As an experienced software engineer who has built everything from social networks to OS maintenance tools, including building on Amazon AWS and the Alexa platform itself, I am qualified to say that this is a misleading article based on zero facts and is actually a detriment to society. I have plenty of examples of why the systemized invasion of privacy is terrible for humanity, but I have to get back to work building privacy-friendly software and systems that respect the autonomy of the user (instead of abusing it which the Alexa platform has done, in numerous reported incidents of people receiving audio clips of their friend’s conversation and vice versa among other creepy and obviously dangerous issues).

This shows the importance of researching a topic prior to simply writing about it and spreading misleading information that contradicts the actual scientific evidence surrounding the situation.
