I read this and didn't see any reasons why remote work won't last - just three challenges that can be easily overcome. Whether remote work will last or not is a function of workers and not anyone else. If people aren't willing to go back to the office, they will find opportunities to accommodate them, while businesses that don't adapt will be left with a limited supply of employees and candidates. This isn't something that management can work around by any other way than accommodating remote work, because it's not up to management whether people are willing to come back to the office or not. Business owners and managers have a choice - change with the times or be left behind. Top companies from Silicon Valley are already leading this trend. If you're a welder or doctor or you do some other physical in-person job, your presence is required as a matter of physics, but otherwise any "requirement" for people to be in the office is just an attempt of management to enforce control over their team, and will be subject to the natural laws of supply and demand, where talent gravitates towards areas in which it is best utilized and not towards corporations that hold false and outdated beliefs about work culture. Welcome to 2020 and beyond, it's not going back.
