I'm Canadian, and when I lived in Vancouver during the 80's, I had friends who were recently from China. They clearly felt right at home in Vancouver, much the way people of Japanese descent find coastal Alabama to be comforting. After years of my family moving around Canada and the US, my Inuit mother found Satsuma, AL to feel like home and so my parents never moved again. I've found DNA maps showing pre-columbian genetic makeup of the United States and how there was a Japanese presence both where I live today and out West towards California and Idaho.
It would not surprise me to someday find evidence of Chinese navigators having discovered and settled into areas in the West, especially in places such as Vancouver. I'm interested in learning more about China's history in navigation and exploration. I'm sure the legends are true, as many legends have been turning out to be true recently. Most of the Irish legends of invasions from different lands have been proven true, as are many others around the world. It's a good thing we have our own history to pass down as families and that we don't have to rely on institutional education alone.
