Betrayal hurts on another level. There’s nothing quite like being kicked down by the very people you helped to lift up, while they mock you for not doing as well as they are.

People will tell you all kinds of useless things on your healing journey, like how you should just get over it, turn the other cheek, it could be worse, and so forth. If you have ever watched your life go from a successful path to complete ruin, you know deep down that it’s total bullshit.

Carrying on like nothing happened and pretending you are OK as to not offend or trigger those who don’t understand is like continuing to run a race with a broken leg so that others don’t feel guilty for crossing the finish line without you.

People who are doing OK have no business giving you advice as to what they would do in your situation. They can either be understanding, or not. When someone acts like you should just get over it when your brain is no longer working, on the surface they seem supportive, but in reality they are being condescending and judgemental.

If you’re not OK, you’re simply not OK, and there is nothing wrong with that. You are allowed to be not OK and you have the right to do whatever it takes to become OK again. If you have been lied to, ripped off…
