This is something I’ve struggled with for years really, long before I really got into writing professionally. Looking back, I have enjoyed writing since I was a kid and I spent hours doing so in my room. Today, I spend a lot of time writing code, tech documentation, marketing content, and all sorts of things. To this day, I find the perfect writing environment to be quiet isolation with minimal distractions, especially if I’m into some complex problem or large abstraction that requires a lot of focus. I have to create that myself of course, and even things like not having coffee are no excuse for me since I now get it by the 3lb can and keep a virtually unlimited stock. So long as I have plenty of coffee, I’m usually OK with any (relatively) quiet work area for writing. ☕️
